look underneath the grille and you'll see a bunch of small bolts.. they're 10mm I think. about 8 of them across the top and bottom of the bumper.. remove all those.

also along the ends of the cover where it attaches to the front fenders... I dunno where or how to get to those, but I'm sure it's not too difficult.
I removed one in about 10 min (with help) from a wrecked max in a junkyard.

thanks, Matt

the thing is the gille and the headlights are in the way. I wonder if I have to remove these first. I tried to remove the grille and it seemed like a pain in the neck to put it back in. any suggestions?

yeah, you're going to have to remove all of that stuff.. it's pretty simple though.

remove the corner lights: there's one screw on the top when you lift the hood, then pull the front edge straight sideways. be careful not to break the ball/socket joint that holds it in. they're very brittle by now because the plastic has aged.

Now you'll see a couple bolts that hold the headlight in.. there are a couple more bolts on the other end of the headlamp.. remove all those, then the headlights are out.

the grille is a PIA to remove simply because the tabs are hard to get to. I use pliers and a screwdriver and just work at them until they come off. It goes back on very easily.. you just line up all the little on the back and push. *click!* and the grille is back in place.

hope that helps.

thanks again, Matt!

could you be more specific on the headlight removal? I'm OK with the others but headlights. Many thanks

it's a vauge memory of the headlights, but I think there are two bolts on the inside back piece (right next to the radiator), and 2 more bolts on the outside edge..

remove the corner light and you'll see a couple bolts.. remove those..
now pull on the light and figure out where it's hanging up.. remove those bolts..
just do it systematically, and you'll find everything you need.
