Question about Air/fuel gauge install...
... Hello everyone, I just got my Air/fuel gauge was wondering where the purple wire gets connected at. I know its supposed to get connected to an O2 sensor but i have no clue what color the O2 sensor is on the ECU. Thanks in advance.

It's Pin 29 on the ECU and is a white wire (both VG and VE). You need to make sure you get the correct pin cuz there's lots of solid white wires there.
I know I have mine hooked up correctly and I still get psycho readings. It just blasts back and forth the whole gauge all the time. It sometims sits on lean, sometimes on rich, sometimes the whole gauge is lit up, sometimes it's not lit up at all.
Argh. I have the Autometer digital crap, btw.

Thanks for the info, I was also told by others that the gauge is nothing but a light show....Guess they were correct. I really didnt know that when I bought it, but oh well...a light show cant hurt, lol. Thanks again.

Mine never did that???. I had a digital one and it wasn't even Autometer. I think I got it from JCWitney or something. ...oh, maybe it didn't even work, then

Light Show?
Sounds like it is not hooked up properly for those of you describing it as a light show. I admit, I had problems with my Autometer A/F as well. Autometer claims that it is an issue with the heated Nissan O2 sensor. I even bought a brand new sensor from Courtesy. Same thing, light show, or all lights would light up. At their suggestion I puchased Autometer's sensor and installed it about an inch downpipe of the Nissan sensor. Wired it up. Has worked perfect. All the lights do light up for about one minute on warmup. Mine does "bounce" around a little cruising on highways and interstates. That is just the computer making adjustments to keep the engine as effecient and economical as possible, as it is programed. When I push the accelerator to the floor, the guage goes all the way to the last light on rich, as the ecu is supposed to at WOT. For those having a problem, I suggest getting the Autometer O2 sensor as well. I would suggest NOT messing with the ecu in tapping into sensor wires. Just run a wire through the passenger kick panel and inside the fender and into the engine compartment, down to the sensor. Also, make sure you have a good, independant ground somewhere. Someone told me they had used the stereo ground wire and the meter lit up to the rich end of the meter when the bass hit. He moved the ground and it was fine.
Re: Light Show?
your situation is the same as what everyone is describing. and like you said the "flashing" not a prob, its just the ECU adjusting. if you want true accuracy go with an EGT gauge, A/F gauges are light shows point blank.

Just got finished wiring mine up and i must say, its a useless POS.......it runs to Rich on the slightest tap of the gas pedal and most of the time is off.....weird.....any suggestions ?
