Wheel spacers..

Ok im trying to purchase a set of wheels. They would be 18x7.5, 45mm offset, 225/40/18 tires. would i need spacers to get these wheels to fit properly and if so what size and where? If I were to get 17" wheels same width etc would this negate the need for spacers? thanks!

Re: Wheel spacers..

im thinkin you will need spacers. i have 18x7, 42mm offset with same tires, i have about 3 mm of space in rears. theres plenty of websites that sell H&R spacers, those are your best bet b/c they come with new bolts also. no the reason why people need spacers is because of the width of the wheel and offset, not the diameter of the wheel

i just bought 18x7.5 48mm wheels and in the front i have about 1/2 inch clearance, rears anout 1/8. you may need spacers for the rear, shouldnt for the front. it all depends on how wide your new tires will be. anything much greater that 215 may require spacers

if theyre the ones on the left they're cool, if theyre the ones on the right you may need to get new wheel bolts which will cost you extra $$$$, check to see if the ones on the left are what come for your car and youll be good

nope...235 and no spacer needed.
it's all about the offset..NOT necesarily how wide your tire is.

yay rota yay! yay subzero yay!

and it's not about the tire width...like dan said it's about offset...spacers needed..simple as that and the ones you need to make these rims look right on a 3rd gen are large and require longer wheel studs...$$$$

that thing is funny, they all do it at the same time. ps tire width does matter if you have a tight offset. the tire size is making the overall wheel bigger isnt it?

pretty much the rim is up against the strut in this case...yes teh 215 series will pull the tire away a tad but you're still asking for trouble and will most likely still see rubbing...DanNY saw my fronts when there was no spacer and it looked like sh*t and rubbed like a ****...i spent the money and did it right. yes the rims are cheap but by the time you spend the loot to get them to fit properly it becomes quite expensive...

hey chris no hard feelings eh? so i would need 5mm spacers for the front and rear? and they would just have to be put on w/no elongation of bolts?
