Overheating '90 GXE
Having a problem with car overheating. I replaced the thermostat and checked everything else. When the car get to a temperature when the fan is suppose to kick in nothing happens. Fan motor is ok i can run the A/C and fans turn on with no problems.

Re: Overheating '90 GXE
did you check your water pump?
Your max will over heat dispite the fact your thermostat has been replaced. Not coolant is circulating through the engine for your working fans to cool the engine.
One way to know if you water pump is shot is to notice if there are any coolant leaks coming from you max after it is parked.
Also if you have to keep putting fluid in you radiator frequently, you definatley have to check the water pump.
I got mines replaced a month a ago.
At first i thought my stats where gone but it was the water pump.

I dont have to continuously add coolant and there are no leak and i know the water pump is still good. It has something to do with the coolant sensor, fan switch or something else. Dont know what tho.
