Check all your grounding in the car. especialy your tail lights if you have subs, check and see if your tail lights are woring properly. I have an Altima as well as a Max and the Alty had similar problems, but were fixed when I found grounding defects-

I had a similar problem once in my car, except the dash lights would come on when I hit the brakes (any time I hit the brakes, even if the switch was off). I checked the fuses and did everything to no avail, so I finally went to the dealer, and they fixed it. They said it was the fuses, not sure if I believe them, but it worked, so I'm not complaining.

I had the exact same problem for over 6 months....I took it to the mechanic to fix some other things and he told me it was one of the wires from the stupid stereo...I had changed the radio and cut all the cables that were connected to it.
The only thing he actually do was to connect one of those wires to ground and the problem was solved...if you changed or removed the stereo I would suggest checking that out because that might be your problem.

I had the same problem a while ago and found out that it was the car phone that had been installed on it previuosly on it. The power wires for the phone had been connected to two of the fuses in the fuse box. After I diconnected the phone there was no more problem. Also the wires for the phone were on top of the ECU. DO NOT PLACE ANY WIRES AROUND OR DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE ECU.( im sure you're aware of this already).
