Hi,
I am fast approaching the time where I have to do something about the front end on my 91 max. Do I need to remove the axle for the control arm replacement? Ball joint replacement? CV replacement? Also, don't I need to have special tools (for removing the snap ring(s)) to do this work? Is this within the relam (sp) of a weekend mechanic?
Any help is appreciated.
Stephen

you might want to:
1. get a chiltons or haynes
2. search a lil bit if it already has been discussed
3. DEFINITELY ask Matt93se. He is offering help on the issue of control arms that will save you from buying the special tools and removing and replacing the bushings which from what i gathered is a real pain.
ball joints, axles, and control arms can all be replaced with regular hand tools.. it's working on the parts themselves that require special tools.
only real problem you'll have is getting the control arms off the car. the front bushings sometimes siezes to the shaft, and it'll require some liquid wrench and a pulley puller to get it off. otherwise, that's the only special tool you'll need. search for instructions on how to do them all.
