I have a knocking noise around where my pullies are and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with this. I have some ideas but I am not sure. I think it could be my VTC's or I might have a bad lifter. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a rapid ticking? I don't remember exactly what it sounds like anymore, cause I replaced mine. Also, how often does it do it? All the time, just at startup, only at idle, or also while driving?

 

It does it after I start it but after about five minutes it goes away.

 

if it goes away I think it's the lifter and not the VTC's, I think the VTC's stay on constantly.

 

The VTC's are progressive, they start out where they just tick part time, and as the damage progresses, they start ticking all the time. Sounds like you have the infamous VTC problems.
