Y-Pipe

Y-Pipe
I dunno how many of you are familar with this, though this pertains to a 2nd gen (and I've posted a similar post there), it involves 3rd gen parts. Now on a 2nd gen, the exhaust routing in the engine compartment is rather funky. The rear exhaust is routed around the transmission side of the motor, over the bell housing into the front bank manifold. Then it goes to the down pipe routed under the bell housing to the flex pipe and off to the cat. Now the z31 300ZX also does this. Now in your guys opinion, because I want to open up the exhaust a little more and get some gains from it, would it be feasible to gut that setup, adapt some 3rd gen VG headers, and performance y-pipe to a 2nd gen. The VG in the 2nd and 3rd are basically identical with the exception of where the oil filter and oil filler cap is, and the intake plenum. I've yet to find someone who has done it, and I might try it myself, but I want to be sure first before I go for it.
