Broken Manifold Studs !!!! HELP!!!
My engine was making a lawn mower type sound when I began to accelerate. It eventualy started making a scream sound when I gave her gas. I took it to the shop and found out two of my Manifold studs had broken off inside the head. The guy "tryied" to save me money by turning the two parts that connect to the head and welding them on backwords so I could use the other two good holes. The sound went down a little but its still there and Im left with an altered manifold missing two screws. And the estimate to open the head to retrieve the studs in $1000 plus. Ive read online many places that it is a common thing in 94's to have the studs break and cost that much to retrieve them. Im in San Antonio and want to know if anyone knows a place that wont charge so much? ( When I do finally ge the studs out I have another manifold to replace the butcherd one the mechanic put in, but are is there a good performance manifold I can replace for the standard one)? .

This is a very common problem for 3rd gen maxima's. This topic has been talked about before so much, if you would search a lot of your questions would be answered. The price depends on what shop you go to, because it is a lot of work to change those studs.
