Transmission Shift Control Module?

Hey, I have been having problems with the automatic trans on my 92 SE, and I was wondering if my problems sound familiar to anyone else. The car shifts inappropriately sometimes when I'm cruising at a constant speed, whether in town or on the highway. It kind of feels like it is upshifting suddenly or like you were suddenly turning off the O/D at freeway speeds. I'm almost positive it is electrical, because the transmission shifts smoothly when it isn't acting up. I just bought a used shift control unit (transmission computer), and I'm hoping that will fix the problem. If anyone has experience with this problem I would appreciate your input. If it is possibly the shift control, I need to know where the unit is located in the car so that I can swap it out. Thanks.

If sounds like your torque converter is being engage/disengage without you depressing the throttle. Mine does the same, while cruising on the hwy or around town I can feel the torque converter being engage and disengage it kinda gives you that feeling like the O/D button is being turned off and on but with out the tranny being drop into 3rd. I haven't had chance to diagnose my situation, but I did pick up a used TPS and MAF. First I'm going to make sure my currect TPS is properly adjusted, and if that doesn't help then swap out the TPS and see if anyting changes if nothing then the MAF. I think the unit is located in the center console next to the drivers right knee/ankle

I don't know what the abbreviations TPS and MAF mean.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor

Does the orange "power" indicator light on your A/T selector switch come on when your car is acting up? Mine will even if I have the switch set to "comfort". Let me know how it works if you replace those sensors. Thanks.

My light doesn't come on when it's acting up, and yes the bulb is working due to both lights lighting up for a couple seconds when the ign is turn on.
