which PIAAs are you gonna use??? its so hard to find a matching corner bulb that even comes close to matching the hue of HIDs, but I guess since you have 7500k it should be easier since they are blueish/white(as opposed to 6000k "purple")...looks good though! I like the shifter Originally posted by D-sta

Craig: LoL, I wish the shifter was a bit shorter but it's ok I got use to it.
DA-MAX: I know it will be hard but any bulb I put there will look better than what they look like now.
Fosgate Fan: It's a plug and play kit. To install each side of the HID kit it takes me about 20 minutes, it's very easy but I have installed aboout 10 of these kits already.

The pattern is good and this kit cost me $400 shipped. These kits have never given me a problem and I have installed them in my friends BMW and he was the first to get this kit and they still work with no problems after 1 1/2 year of use. If you are interested contact optionmotor@yahoo.com

looks good, was the HID ballasts and everything easy to wire-up? I may consider it, not now though, have to worry about all the **** below first..
clean your engine bay

Joe: I like my engine bay the way it is. The HID kit is plug and play there is no splicing or anything to be done just connect red with red yellow with yellow. Next meet I will show you exactly how to install it.
Pezking: The head unit is from a 97 Maxima with Bose and I haven't had any problems for a long time, it works perfect.

Soul Fly: Yes the head lights are worth it. I like them very much and consider one of the best mods I have.
Jason: I will call Chris tonight and tell him you got the TV's for him. Most likely we will be going up to your house tonight.

There is a company that is coming out with highbeam/lowbeam 9004 HID's soon.
Looks good tho.
How does the 4th gen HU interface with your stock Bose? Any spicing involved, or just plug and play?

Thanks. No unfortunately, to connect the 4th gen HU is not plug and play, I wish it was. I had to make a special wire harness with two different conenctions at each end, one coming from a 4th gen, which went into the HU and the other side with the harness connection that went into the 3rd gen connection coming out of the car. Once you get those you can match up the wires and then you have a custom wiring harness. I did this so that if I ever decide to remove it I can connect the stock stereo back without a problem. I have no complaints, my BOSE speakers are a 100% functional and I've had this unit for about a year now and never had a problem and everything sounds great. I also like it because it blends in perfectly to the interior and it doesn't stand out, that was my objective in buying the 4th gen HU.Originally posted by Lordrandall

Hey D-sta, can I suggest to cut down a little on the shifter rod, so it doesn't look that tall. Short throw shifter for free

I did the same thing on my 92. Just went to a junk yard and cut the wires off of a 95 or up and connect them to a wiring kit.Originally posted by D-sta

I was told after I did this that they make a kit to convert it so you dont have to do any splicing. It was cheaper the way we did it though. I got the 4th gen wiring free and had a 3rd gen kit already. What can I say I am cheap but good with a soldering iron and shrink wrap

lol, those cupholders are 100% useless anyway I've noticed, everything is too small for one side, and too big for the other.Originally posted by Lordrandall

Lordrandall: Whatever works, it's worth the time of making the harness or you can get that kit awsm66 is talking about.
Nissan-R: Good suggestion but if I cut it down it won't make it a short throw shifter, it'll just make it a shorter looking shifter. Thanks for the suggestion but I'm happy with the way it looks.
nstymax93: I am going to get new ones eventually (snow and salt doesn't help), hey I rather see my rubber mats like that instead of my perfect black factory mats under there get ruined
Derek94SE: The cup holders are useless.

I love the AE shift ****. Any modifications to make it fit or does it have the same threads as a stock 3rd gen. Im asking because I called courtesy a while ago and they werent sure if it fit?
N34JZ: Nice pic but the rims look ok, I think I might get something different.
Kevin: The threading is perfect. The **** goes in without a problem.

how did you attach the wiring harness for the 4th Gen CD player to work with the lighting dimmer switch?? i recently put in the same head unit (using an adapter and doing the same thing u did) and i cant get it to work with the dimmer switch...the HU remains at full brightness all the time...i think its got something to do with the orange illumination wire on the adapter harness...cant figure it out though.
also...doesnt the 97 HU have white illumination instead of green for night time illumination?

I had a problem with the ill. and dimmer wires because the instructions I used didnt list the color of the dimmer and ill. wires on the 4th gen harmess. I wound up just trying it out since there were only 2 wires left. I got it backwards first time but after I swapped them it works right (goes dim when I turn the lights on and then dims more when I hit the dimmer button. Sorry that doesnt help since I cant remember the wire colors.Originally posted by drstillpatient

It also may be that your wiring harness for the "up to 94" may not have both the dimmer and ill wire on it.
Ok so I found some different pages that have the wiring here you go
your wiring
new radio wiring
you need to connect your "C" to the new radio "D" for the Illumination. adn your "I" to the new radio "I" for the dimming.
Hope that helps.

I had problems also, I remember that I had to tap the orange wire with another one but I forgot which one exactly.Originally posted by drstillpatient

initially what was happening was that as soon as i switched the car lights on...the DISPLAY on the HU would shut off, but the music would still play...so i had him rewire it...now everything lights up when the lights are switched on...but it doesnt dim with the lights or the dimmer switch.
i'm gonna rewire it with these diagrams...thanks

Yeah eventually it has to work by tapping the correct wire. I forgot to answer your question about illumination, the 97 HU lights up in white but it still looks good.Originally posted by drstillpatient

actually it looks white but it has little blue condoms on the little lights behind the panel...I think there is 7 but cant remember for sure. I took the green condoms out of my single din bose unit and put them in my 96 HU (I had to cut them down because they are longer) so it would match the rest of my interior.Originally posted by D-sta
