Transmission swap

Does anyone know how hard it is to change an automatic transmission to manual. I have a '91 and the transmission died and I want to change it to standard. What other parts besides a new ecu will I need? And anyone know where a cheap transmission is?

its been done a few times. You will not need a new ecu though since the manual doesnt need it.

the best thing to do to find out info is to use the search in the top right corner of the board. That way you can get as much info and do your research.

when you search be sure to include the 4th gen board since there have been a few do them and it is similar.

good luck,

also if you want a good place to find used parts try here. Just look in your area or other states if you dont mind paying shipping.

Re: Transmission swap

It's not all that hard like you might think. You really should search for a post from Kaleb awhile back. He listed everything you'll need and it is pretty much all the info you will need.

I'm doing a manual swap on my '91 GXE. Though, it keeps getting pushed back because I can't keep my Maxima running long enough to get the current problems fixed, before another one comes along! Actually, it runs fine, I'm just having suspension problems out the a$$! I'll get to the swap in under a month hopefully.
