Code 51??

I got a Check Engine light the other night so I checked my codes today per the procedure in my Haynes manual and got a code 51 (five red flashes and one green flash). Unfortunately, the Haynes manual doesn't have a code 51. Could I be doing somethiong wrong or are there codes that are not covered by the Haynes book? I rechecked it about 10 times to make sure it was a 51. Thanks.

Re: Code 51??

Code 51 is 'fuel injector'.

Thanks. Where did you find that? FSB? Any tips on where to go from here? I forgot to mention that when the light is on, the car seems to have trouble holding idle speed. It wavers between 500-700 rpm and seems to struggle and sputter a bit during acceleration. The rest of the time, it seems to run fine.

Yes, I did fine it in the factory service manual, however I'm sure a list of ecu codes has been posted already. I would suggest you try and find out which injector or injectors exactly is the problem. It could be the wiring harness is corroded, in which case you would simply clean it up, or it could be that the injector itself is bad, in which case you replace the injector(s).

Thanks again. If there is anything other than the Haynes codes posted on here I was unable to find it through various search attempts and reading every one of the FAQs links. I did try to do my homework before bothering you guys. I am one of the guys who answers all the questions on the MR2 board, so I can appreciate how frustrating it is when a newbie comes on and asks the same question that has been answered a thousand times. Fortunately/unfortuantely, my Maxima hasn't given me much trouble in the 12 years I've owned it, so I haven't had much of a need for a Factory Service manual. It's starting to show its age now so I better pick one up.
