shifter

how do i get the stock shifter out of the daym car?? when i took the center consel out i took the little rubber top off and got to the bushing and that is as far as i could get it i looked for a bolt to get it but didnt see anything? do i go from under the car??

a/t or 5spd?

5 spd usually you just screw it on and off. but others you might need a hex wrench.

The whole shifter I assume. I had to unscrew a few bolts from under the car to do my SMC short shifter installation. I also had to remove the cat and heat shields to gain access.

I assume if you took the console off you need to take the whole shift assembly out. So I don't know WTF this other guy is talking about

well it is a 5 sp and i dont see a place to take the heat shield of i see a screw but that isnt it so i dont know and yea it is a full shifter the short shifter

You will either have to remove the CAT, or take the exhaust hanger bolts out to move it to one side. Then you can remove the heat shield and see the shifter assembly.

My advice is to go buy a Chiltons repair manual, it has a step by step process.
