my VG autos...

I ran a 16.7 with my 135K white 91 SE two summers ago. I had intake, timing, and custom "F" pipe on it. It was a very hot day.

My black 91 SE ran a best of 17.2 bone stock with 158,000 miles at the strip this summer. I have since advanced the timing 5 degrees and added an intake, which might get me in the 16's.

The VE 5 speed are the fast 3rd generation Maximas. Car and Driver quoted one in August of 1991 of 15.2 @ 92 mph.

The VG 5 speed Maxima will run a low 16.

please tell me you just had a CAI, Y, catback, and an RT cat!!!!

for those who do not remember me or my car
its been known to be a screamer, hell all my cars have been this way

mods on my 92 se 5spd

custom MAF plate. k&n filter. bored throttle body {71mm) port matched intake. advanced timing. shaved flywheel {nissan did this one for me} stock clutch. hollwed cat. 2.5 from cat back to a opak race type muffler. gutted trunk. ticking VTC. bald street tires. 5inch monster tach. stock shifter {ie: no short shifter} powershifting to the point of automatic speed with a shift kit.
the best mod you can do to the car is learn how to drive it. and dyno the hell out of it. BTW a new alternator will flatten out your ignition and gain you 2hp. also ran bosch platinum plugs

2 months before i sold my car. i had some severe custom work done, as some of you may know the N/A z32 cams can work in these cars with a lot of modification and timing work. i added these. i don't suggest it, i only gained 5 hp out of . not worth the 1500 bucks i spnt to have it done.
best hp dollar for dollar. the nice blue bottle

I would love to come close to Brian's times but right now i only run in the low 15's or high 14's. And now that i have a second job i will have the money to make the max as fast as it wants to be.

About two weekends ago, I ran a 17.1 quarter mile. This being my very first attempt, I was a little pumped. My clutch foot was all jittery. Plus all the exhaust fumes had me spun or something. Oh yeah and I raced a newer mustang with slicks and sounded incredible. I think he ran a low 14.

I feel I can pull at least a mid to low 16 with more experience and a good launch. My stock clutch can't hang with all the modifications. Plus the tires were too hard a compound.

A newer mustang with slicks? It only ran a low 14 doesn't that suck for a mustang? I'm just wondering because I keep hearing guys on here bash mustangs, but I doubt most of our cars could beat a V8 mustang. I'd love to see someone prove me wrong, but I think alot of guys are all talk and they can get on this forum without having to prove their claims.

Not all mustangs are 10 second beasts. A modded 96-98 GT is a low 14 second car at best unless it's got some sort of power adder or PI head swap.

A modded VE five speed shouldn't have much trouble hanging with these cars if they can drive.

Now, if you run into a 99+ GT, with a driver, they can pull low 14s, high 13s bone stock.
