5th Gen Mufflers

I've seen that some people use these on their 3rd gen's. How do they sound? Do they perform well?

Thanks

5hp my a$$

in any event you're not going to see much of a HP gain out of a muffler especially a stock one. My reasoning for it was to keep the exhaust note down while still looking stock. the exhaust is fairly quiet and the car gets loud when i get on it b/c of the CAI/Y combo. I recommend it highly for a nice stock-looking setup if you want to keep the noise down...

I've had mine on since 2001. I like mine alot. custom cat back + Y pipe and 2k muffler. Ultra quiet until you step on it. Since there's hardly any gains to be had from a muffler anyway, I went this route. It DOES feature the dual chamber tech anyway. So if there any gains to be had, I'll probably get them. But I might not get the last 10% of the available gains(1-2hp) but to have to put up with the fart can, ricey, cheap sounding, rookie looking, amataur type mufflers, NO WAY.

Hey Jeff, I always meant to ask you, did you put a resonator in your setup?

I've gone from a crappy rocket launching universal muffler to a 5th gen one that I picked up from a friend for 40. Level of sound is such a big difference and the quality is much better. I can hear myself think now

Thanks Guys,

My GReddy muffler went bad on me and I chopped it off and put on this "Nissan Power Flow" muffler I got off eBay for $45. I hate it, it makes my car sound like, well, a honda...sux

That being said, the exhaust tips on stock I30s are slanted downward to create more theoretical backpressure, which allowed Infiniti to claim 227 ponies over the standard TL's 225......which is all moot now anyway.

Regardless, it's a phantom 5 ponies.

UK corners = especially when you have 2 pair

I hope you get some because I felt bad not letting rhd sell you the other ones since I already have a set (even after you tried to get them out from under me...just messing with you.)

Know someone from the UK that can get them. They really are hard to find and get a hold of. There is no real way to say how to get them. I just happen to be in the right place at the right time to get mine.

The best thing to do is tint a pair of clear corners with tint spray. Or do like Kingrye and take a pair apart and paint the inside...his actually look unique since no one else I know of has done that. he left the part where the bulb was chrome so it looks kinda like the 4th gen anniversary headlights.

There are a lot of people looking for UK corners so its not like you can just get them from a store lik you can clear corners.

Well, first it start losing it's stuffing. I'd find ***** of that metal lining coming out of the tailpipe. When it was all said and done, All that was left was the center pipe. The hollow shell is still in my garage.

I had them remove the center pipe (it has rolling aroung inside make a horrible noise. I had them remove it, because I was going to sell the GReddy empty muffler like it is on eBay, sound kinda lame I know, but I got the idea from eBay, because I saw it advertised that way, and somebody bidlike $50 for it...maybe there's more than one dummy out there.

Why so hard to get??? I mean, I know that the Max isn't a popular car in the UK, but The dealers should stock em right? Just seems odd to me there they're that hard to get.

Yeah I dont think its that hard to get them new but the price is outrageous. I think I remember one of the UK guys check and it would cost around $300 to get a pair new. I may be off on that price but I think I am close. Used they are hard to find because there arent that many 3rd gen Maximas in the UK but if you family member spots one they can see if they will swap for some clears or even factory us corners.
