You would have to cut out the slot behind the arm rest in the center of the seat. The question is; would it be worth it to cut a hole in your back seat?

you dont' have to cut anything if you want a hole behind the armrest, there's a peice of fabric in the back of the trunk against the the back of the seat you can take it out, and I think there might be another peace of carboard like stuff it's easy to take out too. then when you put your armrest down it open's up into the trunk.

There's the thin piece of wood behind there too.. that's what you have to cut. I know what's involved, my rear seat is currently sitting in my room

you also don't have to cut out the cardboard piece, theres 2 screws in the trunk that you just unscrew and then you pull it out from the trunk...thats what i did anyways, didn't have to cut

The job is probably half done too since the cardboard tends to rip apart at the screw.

Could you get some pics of your fold down? I'd really be interested in seeing it.

Why bother with a " fold-down seat " modification? If you ask me, I think it sounds like a waste of money? Do you really need your back seat to fold down?

Folding down the seats will not maximize the sound of your subs. The deepness and how loud your subs are all depends on what type of box and trunk space you have (to be technical). Sealed boxes will produce the loudest and transmission line boxes (wave boxes) will be the deepest. There are SO many factors coming into play when getting the absolute MOST out of your subs. Very rarely you'll see someone punching all "2000 watts". Your subs should face the back of the car. And sit as close as possible to the back of your rear seats. Making the air bounce off the front of the trunk. View my homepage to see what I'm talking about.

actually bandpass boxes can play louder than sealed, taking the benefits of a sealed and ported box. and yes with the rear seat down it can be "louder" since there are fewer obstructions for the bass to reach the ears. The subs don't necessarily play better, just the bass is easier to hear. I hear a differnce in my friend's integra with the rear seat up and down. But i wouldn't go into the trouble of making a fold down rear seat, don't think you'll see THAT much of an improvement. my $.02

not to be so critical, but I've done the math. Calculated the volume and sq. ft with 2 12's in play. On the other hand, bandpass boxes (unless custom built) will ony sound good in HUGE trunks or SUVS. I'm not tryin to sound like a know-it-all...but I've learned a lot about car stereos and that matter.

don't get me wrong hehe...not doubting your knowledge just generally, bandpass enclosures, like u said if built right, will be louder than a sealed.

I think the fold down seats are pretty cool, not a bad job if I do say so. it's kinda nice to be able to fold down the seat and throw something in the trunk without getting out of the car and doing it.

Yeah, like the bodies I'm running out of room for...

I mean, the mod shouldn't be too hard, and should be on the cheap side. The question is, is it really worth it??? I perosnally am not shooting for anything other than a stock replacement system so that's out of the question. And, well, how often are you hauling something big enough to warrant those???

Yeah, no kidding. It's not like your driving a big SUV or truck? I mean, are you actually really going to take your Maxima to your local hardware store and buy hella wood?

Well, They do *** in handy. I had to bring a desk home from work, only reason I brought it home is because of the fold down seat. By the way, I had a Saturn(no jokes please) when I was back in the states. Had 2 15's in the trunk, sounded so much better with the seats down. About to get a 12' on thursday, will not really ride around with the seats down. But it goes come in handy!!!!

I say the only time fold down seats are really handy is in an SUV when you lay the seats down so you can host an org...

I digress...
