Gas leakage from a hose on the top of the VG30E head

Hi guys,
I noticed a gas smell when the outside temperature went below -10°C this winter. It comes with frost and goes when it is getting warmer. The problem is with a rubber hose that is attached to the L shaped steel pipe right below the spark wire plug of the 3d cylinder. The connection could be seen if you stood on the right side of the car, bent over the air filter and the battery and looked straight down thru the bottom of the U shaped right side of the intake manifold. The L shaped pipe is the one that starts with that hose and goes to all the injectors. In my case it is wet when the fuel pum starts working and until the engine is warm. This hose has a clamp that is probably loose, but I am not sure if I can just tighten it.

How complicated is it to get this fixed and where can I get the right hose? Is this a part that I have to buy from Nissan?

Any help appreciated.

Common problem w/ our cars. The hoses are getting worn and have cracks that let gas seap through when cold. The hoses contract and the cracks open up. When it warms up the hoses expand and it's fine. First thing I did was tighten the clamp. That worked for me for a little while but I had to replace the hoses anyway. You can get rubber fuel lines at any auto parts store but be SURE they're for fuel.

Thanks Chris! I am going to replace my main gas hoses anyways so I'll just get a foot more I screwed the hoses when trying to diagnose some other problem and want to replace them to be on the safe side.

I have the same problem with my maxima. I have tightened the hose clamps which seems to have temporarily fixed the problem. However how difficult is it to get down there to gain access to the lines and replace them?

Does anyone know what size they are, 1/4 inch?

Also, will pulling the fuel pump fuse relieve the gas pressure enough to minimize the gas leaking everywhere when they are removed?

Thanks
Chris

I found that pulling the fuse and letting the engine stall, then restarting it a couple times, reduces the pressure significantly. The engine needs to be running for a few seconds in order to use up the pressure in the line and fuel filter and there still be some leftover pressure. The spill should not be a big problem anyways.

the only leakage when the hoses are off is from the pressure still in the system. best thing to do is just remove the hose at your fuel filter and plug the line. then any fuel that's left in the system will drain out and it's no big deal. when you're done working on the car, just turn the ignition to on and let it sit for about 15 seconds. turn it back off and do it again.. THEN start the car. should have the system properly primed by that point and it should fire right up.

Tightened the clamp, does not leak anymore

It was quite easy to tighten that clamp. The toughest part was to put the spark wire back in the darkness Looks Okay for now, thanks everyone!

Thanks for the tips.

Does anyone know the size of the hose? So I can pick it up before I take the old one off.

Thanks

Are you asking for the size of the hose that I dealt with or for the size of the main gas lines? I do not mean I know the answer, it is just that they are different sizes. Hope that helps.

I meant the size of the gas lines that you dealt with. Not the main ones.
