speaker size question
speaker size question
i want to get new speakers for my 93 gxe with a non bose system. ive seen on other post that people can fit a 6x9 in holes for the back speakers.
can someone please clearify the maximum speaker size that fits in the fronts and the backs for a 93 gxe non bose. to me it looks like the max size would be either a 5x7 or a 6 1/4 for the back speakers.
thanx a lot.

cool thanx a lot.
did some howework on the matter and found out that the 6x9s do fit in the back. but you need a bose adapter of some sort to screw them in from the bottom up. im assuming they wont drop in from the top becaust theyre too big. if anyone can take a picture of the adapter/bracket that you need to install 6x9s on and post it to this tread, that would be great. i think im going to fabricate some out of allumium since i dont really want to go to a junk yard and even if i did, itd be rare to find a pair sitting there anyways.
also, i found out that the rear speakers have an amp to power them. even the non bose system!
wow! high class man, watch out!
so anyways, i was wondering, if i were to get a new head unit, would i have to bypass that amp or would it be alright to use it with the headunit. would it be any louder or whatevers? also, if i just get new speakers, i can just use them with the amp right: because on my stock speakers, it says theyre 4ohms and most car audio speakers are 4 ohms.
also, im planning on just getting some new speakers and an amp and sub. my stock unit doesnt have preouts. but since theres an external amp in the back, do you think the speaker wires to the back speakers are not amplified because i heard it was better to send an unamplified signal to the amp to get better sound. thats why aftermarket head units use preouts for subs and channels and also, thats why eclipse head units only have preouts, no speaker outputs...blah blah blah(i was planning on doing the high level input for the amp) so yeah, to sound redundant and anoy someone, can i just splice the wires before they reach the amp or does it not really matter or make a difference.
one last thing, is there an external amp to the front speakers too or does the one in the back run all 4 speakers? if there is, where is the amp for the front speakers.
thanx in advance for your guys/gals(which would be really sexy if a girl knew this much about a car) help.
ps. i just thought about it and i might be wrong about that silver thing in the back being an amp. if im wrong and thats like some sort of defrosting control or whatevers, feel free to make jokes about me. im a newbie to all this anyways. but remember that thats being mean!
