scared!

I just installed one of those Rattler remote starts from DEI.
I found the wire for the tach (as recommended by Craig and DEI)
right where it was supposed to be, but the voltage output was
13.9 with no increase at higher RPM. I found another wire near it that acted as it was supposed to but the computer didn't recognize
it. DEI said to use a wire from one of the injectors as an alternative
but they output a much higher voltage than recommended(38V as opposed
to the needed 1.5V). I decided to try it with no tach wire and everything seems to work fine. I know the tach wire input is to prevent overrevs and such and I'm concerned with just leaving this shortcut go. Am I playing with fire or will it be OK?

Also the parking lights don't flash as they should when locking/unlocking or upon engine start. I used a relay(as seen on Craig's page) to reverse the polarity and when the remote runs through it's procedure I get 4 pulses of 15.75V running back to the parking light wire. Should I have spliced into the parking light wire on the other side of the switch?

By the way the car is a '92 GXE, Grey/Black leather, 55K

Thanking you in advance

Betty

running tachles is fine because when the engine startes the voltage goes from 12 to 13.8 and the remote start sences that and cuts the starter we have to do it all the time at work because we cant find a tach source on new GMs and we sell the rattler remote starts not sure on parking lights

i have the same prob with the lights....i sliced directly to from the secondary harness on the dei to the parking light wires as was said in the instructions per dei, but it doesnt work. I didnt bother to touch it after that, as long as my remote start works, the central locks work with the remote and arm/disarm the factory alarm.

Thanks for your help.

I guess I don't need to worry about that tach wire. It seems to be working fine. But that parking light thing really bothers me. Not because I need to see them flash but because I can't figure it out! If I can find the answer I'll post it.

This board has been a huge help in solving and understanding the little things about this car. It's like having a brother that actually knows what he's talking about!

Thanks

Betty

Betty you need to test the tach on AC volts and not DC. It should rise and lower with the rpm. I am an installer at a 12volt shop so if you need any help not hesitate to ask.
