advancing your engine timing

what exactly is the best way to do this?

Well, you have a VE30DE motor and the only way to change your timing is by turning the "Crank Angle Sensor". It's the round cylinder shaped black plastic cap that's on the right side of the front most cam. It is held on by two bolts. Turn CW for advance and CCW for retard.

And hook a timing light to your #1 cylinder (rear left cylinder if you were standing in front of your car) and lock you car in base timing mode. Get a repair manual if you want to know simple tune up stuff. Hope this helps.
