question to end all my idle questions (long as usual)

well, i have researched and meddled around enough, and im starting to get impatient...first ill say the problem, then ill explain what has been done etc...

the problems:

-car idles high in neutral or park (1300ish) but normal in drive (700ish)

-car is a pain to start when cold (my remote start which is set on about 1.5secs of crank wont start the car) and even when warm doesnt start right up (remote starts works, sometimes barely)

here's what has been done....throttle linkage is fine, cleaned out iacv, messed w/ tps, checked for fuel problems, ecu gives no codes, adjusted idle screw all the way in to reduce the idle somewhat as idle was about 1500rpm

other than the 5 seconds of misery where the car starts bad and idles high in park, it drives wonderful, no hesitation, working vtc's, etc

here's a list of problems i think i have...

-thought fuel pump might be bad, but i now doubt that because it works when ignition is turned on and i have no driveability problems
-when i took apart the iacv, i have read that there is a little spring in there, i guess behind the little pellet? i dont have one (ooppss!) but im not sure if that is correct, there is a large spring behind where the pellet sits, but no little spring
-when i adjust the throttle switch mounted on the throttle body the idle does not change...i imagine that sensor may be bad

i realize all these questions have been discussed and asked, and yes ive read just about all of it, im just gauging some interest...my fsm is on cd and its a pain to find anything on there, and some of the stuff doesnt help too much (i actually find my chiltons more helpful in some cases b/c it has pics, explains better, etc)

also i am considering going to nissan so they can hook the consult up to my car...they said its $50 so im considering that as well...

thanx for ne input...good job

try coolant temp sensor...change the one for the ECU and the one for the gauge..clean out the contacts.

TPS "MAYBE" bad....since you said you moved it and nothing happens.

Dude, if you dont have that little spring that sits behind the pellet then thats definitly a problem. You should try and get a used IACV from the junky or another org member parting out their car!!

That little spring is what pushes the piston back into the position that lowers the incoming air that the IACV modulates. If that spring is no at all in position the pellet can not move back/forth only in the open position allowing maximaum air to flow through the IACV. Which will ofcourse lead to higher than normal IIIIDDDLLLLEEEEEE.

Hence that is your problem.
