overdrive question
Yes, it's perfectly fine to drive with Overdrive ON all the time. In fact, it's normal to keep Overdrive ON. The only time you should take Overdrive OFF is when you are going uphill (or something similar) and you need more power. Leaving Overdrive ON won't mess up your tranny.

i usually keep it ON, just because that light bugs me on the dash and theres no need to have it off. BUt if im sccelerating onto the freeway onramp or going up a hill, somewhere where i need a little extra power i turn it off.
it's ok to leave it on...it just let's your transmission shift into 4th gear...if you leave it off it will stay in 3rd...
my daily commute is semi-stop and go so and 45mph or less so i leave it off so the transmission doesn't work too hard shifting from 3rd to 4th and then down and up etc...

With the APEXi Multichecker installed on my Z, I could see the injector duty cycle. At 3000 rpm in 3rd gear, it'd be around 18% duty cycle. At 2000 rpm in 4th gear it'd be around 15% duty cycle.. very little difference when held at one rpm level. The difference, like you mentioned, is when you're accelerating. by having the revs up in 3rd gear, power/torque is more readily available. in R&T or Car & Driver, there's a small editorial on gas mileage and engine load. The author states that you're better off driving away from an intersection more briskfully rather than accelerate slow and lug the engine.
the same can be said for this situation.. leave OD off, have it in third, keep the revs up, keep the clutch plates happy
