Rap-Mobile questions

My friend just recently gave me a Jensen 600watt Amp, and a sub box with 2 12" MTX Road Thunder TWO's and 2 tweeters in it. Ive called around asking how much cables and installs would cost. So far its like $115 - $170...amazing. I was wondering if you guys could type out a/ point me to a walk through for how to do all of the wires to the trunk area. Power and audio both. Also, is the maxima known for getting rattles in the trunk with subs? If so, whats a common fix? Any tips will be greatly...used. lol thanks a lot guys/girls

Most of what you want to do is pretty easy - and straightforward. Run your power on one side of the car (preferrably on the side where the battery is) and audio, to include RCA's, on the other side. I'm not familiar with Jensen amps, so I don't know what kind of load they will handle. So I'm not gonna tell you to run your speakers with a 1 ohm load so you can fry 'em and come crying to ME!

Rattling has ALWAYS been a problem with most trunks. Dynamat (or some similar product) is the most common fix; although I've seen anything from caulk to aircraft tape (referred to as "100-mile-an-hour tape) to expanding foam.

And if all else fails, ask this question in the audio section...

Please, before you do anything to your car, never refer to your maxima as the rap-mobile ever again

One recomendation I would give is dynomat under the center trunk panel (between the tail lights). I have 2 mtx 10's in a bandpass box powered by an 280 watt mtx amp. And they rattle the hell out of the center trunk panel. My friends have also told me that some of their systems are so powerful that they had to use dynomat under their license plate.

An issue I have with the electrical system w/ my maxima, is the dimming of my lights when bass hits and rpms drop. If you can buy a heavy duty battery. Don't waste your money on capacitors because they don't due much of anything but put a hole in your wallet.I ****ed away $125 for an lighning audio 1 farad cap with digital display(the one that crutchfeild sold for $200+). I would recomend getting a more powerful alternator but that is lots of $$ and if it is too powerful it could over charge your battery and fry it.

I know that your friend gave you that jensen amp but, my friend purchased a 900 watt jensen amp with 2 rockford tens and my system hit twice as hard as his did. With that amp I would not waste a lot of money on an amp kit unless you plan to upgrade in the future. I personaly feel that any good jensen amp is a dead one. I would also check on eBay for wire kits. I seen them sell for $40 or less(with 4 guage wire kit). I saved a lot of money installing everything my self. If you have no experience and need help installing let me know. I'll do my best to help you out.

I have a few questions for you.......whats your budget?? what kind of radio and other components already installed??

i wasnt calling the maxima a rap mobile, HOWEVER if you invest over a grand into the sole purpose of having bass, then I can officially call your car a rap mobile. Its in the constitution, look it up... =)

i know alot of people that buy there amp kits at walmart they sell one with 4ga and and rcas for like 30$ its not the best but for what your doing its more than enogh and installation is really easy i would say the hardest part would be getting the 4ga through the firewall but even that isnt to hard i would just set aside a saturday to do it if youve never done it before
