What The He//..... Help Please.........

I have a 92SE auto. Everytime I turn my defrosters on I get a whining noise and it seems like I lose power. Has anyone experienced this if so what caused it.

It most likely has to do with your ac compressor, defrosters activate it....at least in the vg it does

So what does that mean. How much is it to get it fixed. Can it hurt anything if I dont get it fixed.

Has anyone else had this problem. Im just worried that something else is going to be affected because when I lose power my rpm jump higher than usual.

like timebomb says, its most likely an ac compressor problem. when you turn the defroster on, the ac compressor turns on to dry out the air inside the car. how does it work when you turn on the a/c alone? if it does the same, you know for sure that it is a compressor problem?

I understand that but what other damage if any can a compressor problem cause. Is it going to hurt my car. Thats what I was asking.

Sheesh!
1) AC compressors need hp to run. Thus the loss of power. ie.. 3-5hp.
2) The AC also signals the ecu to bump the rpm.
3) If you hear noises, the belts might need to be tightened.

READ YOUR NISSAN SERVICE MANUAL. Don't have one? Get one.
