Old looking paint...

I have swirls and oxidation on my paint, it's very noticable to me, and I think it degrades the car a little
I can't find that place someone suggested where they have forums all about car paint care, ect.
But here are some pictures of my car paint, the bumper is particulary bad...
(I use 100% cotton wash cloths for cleaning/taking the wax off, could that cause swirls?)

Any suggestions on getting rid of the scratches/swirls, and making it shine as nice as most people on the board? (some of the people's paint looks VERY nice)

Re: Old looking paint...

I know that there are some sites...
I don't have a buffer, and one of the places I visited said it takes forever to get the swirls out by hand. But would it help mine? Would I need the rubbing compound, or would that be to rough and destroy the clear coat?

that looks like the clear coat is already coming off, I doubt compound will help, that paint looks shot already

Re: Re: Old looking paint...

So there's nothing to do for it? polisher on't help that much? The scrathes all over the hood/trunk/roof and the swirls type things, you can't even feel them with your fingernail. What would be the best to use on it to make the paint look better?

well what you just posted a pic of polish inst really gonna help, I dont know about the other stuff because I havent seen it, but you can probably get out swirl marks (which dont look anything like the pic you posted) by compounding it and then waxing it or just get a wax or polish that has a swirl remover in it.

Those were the most "telling" views, here's what it looks like as a whole, normally from most views:

Re: Old looking paint...

The place for all care detailing needs is autopia.org.
There's actually a downloadable manual at the site that will prety much give you all the information you need to make your paint look as good as it can.

Steps I take are:
1. Wash with dawn, rinse
2. Clay bar,
3. Wash with Meguires car shampoo, sheepskin wash mitt
4. 3m swirl remover with Meguires foam applicator pad, buff with 100% cotton towels
5. Mothers polish with foam applicator pad, buff with 100% cotton towels
6. Meguires Hi Tech #26 Yellow Carnuba with foam applicator pad
7. Buff with 100% cotton or micro fiber towels.
8. Upkeep with Meguires quick detail spray and cotton towels
