My max has been making a "putt-putt-putt" sound (lol) when accelerating. Standing still and revved, you dont hear it, just only when moving. First opinion I got was that it's from the muffler, but that didnt sound right. I took it to a muffler shop today for them to diagnose and according to them, it's either the gasket is shot on the rear manifold or the rear manifold is cracked.(uh oh) Anyone had this problem? I'm going to the dealership tomorrow for them to diagnose....hopefully they dont charge me for that.

diy? I've been reading up about it, but apparently to do the rears, you have to either drop the engine or pull the head.

 

it's not easy, but you don't have to pull the head.. just remove the rear engine mount and tilt the engine down some. it's not fun, but possible.

doubt the manifold itself is cracked. slightly warped maybe, but not cracked. 95% chance it's broken exhaust studs.

 

I got some exhaust manifolds that I can sell you that I got from DanNY if yours do end up being cracked. I was going to replace my cracked ones, buuuut... since my baby won't be with me for very long now just PM me if you need them.

 

nah..thanks for the offer...they aren't cracked (i hope and knock on wood)...since you aren't going to have your car for a while, why dont you lend me your spare tranny mounts please?

 

Dude just get em from the guy that was parting out his VG. I'd get you mine, but I don't have the means to pull my block from the car. Not to mention I'm still drivin her around town, just without a hood..... or fenders..... or a bumper.... or lights......
