3rd gens bought new
3rd gens bought new
i got my maxima as a hand-me-down so i didn't get the opportunity to grill the nissan salesman back in '93 when it was purchased (plus, i was only 7 at the time). i was wondering, what was the price of a brand new 3rd gen (SE or GXE, whatever info you have) rolling off the lot?
also, does anyone know where i could find 3rd gen brochures? or does anyone know what the nissan factory names for the paint colors are?
thanks for your time.

I have brochues for 89,92 and 94 that I've gotten off ebay. Just check out ebay every now and then, I got them for about $5-10 ea I think.
fully loaded 93SE 5spd, ABS, leather, power everything, sunroof

I remember back when we bought our skyblue VE auto (94..used...I was 11) from the dealer, the big selling point was it having the '300zx engine'
Also the salesman was pretty big on impressing my dad with the gauges. White with black during the day, black with white during the night. I thought that was just the coolest thing. lol

My sticker was around $20K I think. Only option is the Pearl paint.
off the lot...3 miles on the clock.
factory opt was leather and pearl paint.
many dealer installed options.
nose mask, locking lug nuts, undercoating, alarm, ext warranty..etc etc.
price out the lot was $23K or so.
still have the slightly yellow window sticker somewhere around.

I bought my '93 SE 5-speed (color Super White)new in June '93. The SE base model provided the DOHC VE motor, 5-speed, power everything (except the seats),Bose AM/FM Cassette stereo with amps mounted on each of the 4 speakers, and the security system. I added the sunroof and limited slip differential as options. Sticker was approximately $24K. I paid $20.4K (US) and been happy ever since.
Take it or Leave it!
Basically when I bought my Maxima new back in May of 1989, I was dismayed to find out it would be full price or "nice to know 'ya!". Back then, I was only considering a Legend LS and Cressida (quickly off the list after seeing the "tufted and buckled" seats of a mid 70's Cadillac and the weird tacked on front and rear bumpers... but boy it was quick!) and then I saw my Maxima in front of a dealer on one of those ramp things. It was beautiful.
Needless to say, I ended up buying it. But because of the import quotas that Japan was voluntarily adhering to, demand was much greater than supply. It was sticker and that was about it.
I paid $21,331.24 out the door. It is a GXE with no factory options, but the car already had an ASC moonroof installed (still perfect to this day... in fact it has the one touch feature and auto-close that did not even come on factory versions), an SE spoiler, SE foglites, pinstripe, floormats, yada yada. Loved the Black cloth on the GXE and the Pebble Beige color.
I have every bit of info on the car, every article ever written, every comparison test... you name it. Every year brochure too. I planned on keeping the car for 8 years... it's now been 14 and counting. If you saw the car and it's condition, you'd be shocked.
It's truly one of the nicest original ones of any year you'd ever see (being garage kept since Day 1 has made all the difference). To this day, I get compliments all the time and past owners come up to me in amazement at it's condition. To a person, they say they wish they had kept their Maxima instead of selling it.
It's easy to forget how ground-breaking a car the Gen3 Maxima was and how revered it was. Still is to ME!
