Engine/Tranny vibration? Help!

I've got a slight rumble or vibration between idle and 2k rpm. Once past 2k its real smooth. Also when I put the auto into drive or park the whole car shakes and buzzes a lot for a few seconds and then a little less while the car is not moving. While driving its not noticable.

Here is what has been done so far that hasnt seemed to help.
1. New timing belt (thermostat,h20 pump, hoses, belts etc) and timing set correctly.
2.New plugs and distributor cap and rotor.
3. New rear exhaust manifold, gasket, and studs.
4. vacum hoses replaced.
5. New oil sending unit and new coolant temp switch.
6. Plug wires are about 1 year old.
7. Throttle body cleaned and new TB gasket put on.
8. Dry gas in tank.
9. Tried higher octane of 93.
10. All air intake hoses/clamps checked for tightness.

Im wondering if I have a slight miss within that rpm range? Or and intake or vacum leak? Some damn emissions sensor of some kind going bad? I also am thinking that the shaking when car is in gear is maybe a transmission problem, or engine/tranny mounts gone bad?

Im hoping someone else out there can help lead me in the right direction. Thanks a bunch guys!

That sucks

Sounds like you've put a lot more money into this than I have....i'm having the same problem. I'll be following your case closely.

-I did replace my MAF & have new(oem)fuel injectors.

good luck.

I did all of it but the exhaust manifold and studs myself. The exhaust leak was getting bad and I thought it might also be the culprit. It hasnt always been this way. So Im going to recheck the sparkplug gaps, maybe get new plug wires, and double check timing, and look for any exhaust leaks. Also gonna try cleaning the old K&N. I'll let you know if any of these works.

I also replaced the fuel injector wire harnesses on the rear bank myself, they were cracked and shorting out. That was a solution to a different problem though.

Pretty soon the car is going to have almost all new parts!

Maybe someone else out there knows about something that I might have missed, like some weird sensor etc. Wonder if a worn TPS could do that? I do think I have two seperate problems although they could be related.

You might want to check the engine and transmission mounts. Broken ones will allow the kind of vibrations you are taking about.
