Vehicle:
92 Maxima SE
Auto Trans
~92k Miles

Driving Conditions:
Freeway speeds (~60mph)
Cruise control switched on

Fault:
After hitting the "set" button on the steering wheel, the green cruise control light on my instrument cluster turns on for 1 second and shuts off. The vehicle will not maintain speed on its own.

Anybody have any ideas on the culprit?

First thought would be to check a fuse to see if it's blown.

Second thought is to make sure the vacuum solenoid for the cruise is connected properly and does not show any signs of wear. Also, check electrical connector. After all checks okay, you might need a new solenoid.
