BMW E36 headlight conversion question

are these the right lights to buy? i read in a past thread that i should get the ones without the frames and the picture he showed didnt have those 3 brackets at the top. is that part of the frame im not suppose to want? is that something i can remove or just cut off and if i do that, will that be fine?
also, do these look faded or just not as clear as they should be to anyone else? they look pretty worn to me but the guy says theyre in awsome condition so im thinking its just a bad pic.

thanx everyone.

Theres basically 3 types of E36 lights.

US spec ( normal every day ones), euro projectors( glass front with bigger rear casing and projectors for the low beams) and ellipsoids(same as Euro ones but with no projector and a little smaller rear casing)

the prices range alot with the US sprc ones being the cheapest and most readily available.

You dont need the factory bmw brackets but I used them when I did mine so its all how you figure out to put them in.

If the lenses are yellowed/finely scrathced then take some wheel polish ( mothers works great for me ) and lightly polish the lenses.

They fit fine but you have to cut out some of your rad support to get the rear of the lights to fit inside

Actually ellipsoid is a BMW word for projector. They have ellipsoid kits for 85 3 series. Does anyone have any pics of how they mounted in their projector equipped E36 headlights? I've got mine in but they aren't exactly as secure as i would like them to be. Plus my grill is being held in with wire ties for now.

why pay $300 when you can pay $220 for the euro spec:

Or pay the same price for angel eyes:

There are two brands of euro-ellipsoids to get that are most commonly available for the E-36. The best one is made by ZKW, it has a better projector and it's a better quality and usually what the bimmer guys at www.dtmpower.net use most of the time. Then the second one I think is made by BOSCH and something about the projector quality that isn't as good as the ZKW projector. But any of these two are better than the U.S. spec E-36 lights.

Could be a stupid ques. but don't yell at me.. I'm emotional. LOL!!
The angel eyes could be put on the lights in the first link right. I want the angel eyes and the projecters but I don't like the chrome look like in the second link!! And i'm also goin to assume they can be regular lights as compared to the blue ones in the pic??

Yes angel eyes can be put in either of the procarparts lights, and yes they can be clear instead of blue. Unless you get a DDE kit tho, the angel eyes just won't show up right. The homemade stuff I've seen has the quality of poop IMHO so I don't recommend them. But a DDE kit is like another bill... bill and a half. So all your choice. If you're really loking to buy tho, let me know. Maybe I can still swing $300 for the Euro specs with a gen IV DDE kit from the guy I bought them from. The longer the wait, the less likely he's going to do it tho.

BTW.... what is with the post above mine??? Seems to be just a wee bit .

That's what I was thinking too! I was like, what do lowering springs have anything to do with BMW E36 headlights?

The ONLY thing that'd explain that post, would be the 4 words under that person's nickname. Nuff said!

Those 3 brackets are part of the headlight housing that you can remove. So those will work, but get the nicer lights instead
