And now, the aftermath

I got all that stuff off and changed in the wheels in a couple hours. It's pretty cool how you can take off the front end bodywork with only a screwdriver and a 10mm socket. Actually, you dont even really need to screwdriver, just helps a little bit.

I jumped in the car afterwards and drove around. Still goes perfect, so I'm pretty sure that I'm just gonna fix it. Tranny is still leaking, so I guess I'll have just have to convert.

nice!! too bad it's still a GXE. long as you stick a 5 spd in it though, you'll be okay.

and yes... it's amazing how easy it is to tear apart the front end of the car! a "major" wreck becomes very minor when you see how little there is to replace. buy a fender for $50, hood for $75, bumper for $125, headlight for $50, clear corners for $35, then sand & paint!

there goes $3000 in body shop labor in an afternoon.

good eye. It's a 56. Bagged with a v8 and duals, does it get much better?

Matt, yes, I'm aware that it's a GXE. No need to rub it in. I just like the fact that I'll still have no car payment for the next 4 years of school I've got coming up. Plus I'll be able to pocket the extra money I dont spend.

hey, i was just curious as to what steps it takes to take the front bumper off. how many bolts are there? ive read in past post that you need to take off the headlights and corner lights and grill before you can get to some of the bolts holding the bumper.

thanx
