3rd Gen Front Floormats - Where to find????

Nissan no longer offers the original factory floormats for 90 Maximas- and 'generic' ones don't fit (Especially drivers's side). Factory mats curve so that a regular retangle won't work. Does anybody know where to get 3rd party front floor mats fitted for the Maxima? I'm about to take my old one to an auto upholstery shop and have them use it as a template to make a new one. Can anyone here offer a source?

4th gen mats actually fit pretty well. go to the dealer and ask if they'll let you "try one on" in the car and see how they fit before you buy them.

it's funny you mentioned that, Matt... I was thinking the same thing, so I went to my local dealer and inquired about that very subject. Although they didn't have a 4th gen on the lot or any mats in their parts department, the salesperson told me that the 4th gen floorboard was noticbly larger than 3rd gen (made sense, sorta...), and as a result, the mats would not fit at all.

And to think, I turned down 3 people that tried to sell me their mats from their 4th gen because I thought they'd look

They may not actually fit, but that's what I read on a post 2 or 3 weeks ago. I don't know from personal experience.
I got lucky enough to have mats in my SE when I got it, then someone else sold me another set of black mats for cheap..

I just bought some all weather 4th gen mats and they fit fine. They are definitely bigger thant he 3rd gen mats, but the only place I had to squeeze the mat in was on the front drivers side. Other than that they fit great.

There is also some company that makes custom mats in the original size- so you could just get factory looking ones. I don't remember the site, but it was posted on here before.

You may still want to try your local salvage yard. If you're lucky, you may find a nice set (I did).

That's where I'll probably wind up getting mine - 7-8 yrs back when 3rd Gen matts were available, front set was over $250 - New 4th gen front matts would probably be higher than that now. I've found with a 5-speed manual, the clutch makes the driver's side matt fit more critical.

I'm forced to hit the salvage guys anyway for a Sunroof shade. I've given up on the old one after a 1 week fight with sunroof dis-assembly and re-assembly, initially to stop a leak. Water warped the old shade, and jams the sunroof retraction.
