You don't need the trim plate in an ISO-DIN install.
Remove it and install the headunit to the factory brackets.
i have now idea what your talking about. i have a pioneer head unit. it came with a little plastic trim to go around it that just snaps on. is this what your talking about? if it is, there is no way that your going to be able to put it on. my headunit just slid in where the old one was. there arent really any gaps. i didnt look with a magnifine glass though.
you mean it looks like this?

you can fix it with a little custom work... look at this one:

here's my new head unit after installing it back in the stock spot.. as you can see it doesn't fit either... (BTW, these are all Pioneer products)

After a little custom work and making new mounting brackets for it, here's what it looks like:

I'm trying to transfer my entire website (several hundred pics, bout 60 meg worth) from three servers onto one..
'Well, it's not always a smooth transition.
back to your problem.. you've got a few options..
if you've got any spare sheet metal or aluminum lying around, you can make new brackets for your head unit..
simply take your old ones off, and trace them onto the sheet metal.. when you cut them out, drill new holes for the heat unit about 1/8" to 1/4" out from the old holes... (I put oval holes on mine so I could adjust where I wanted it)..
I also removed the cupholder and cut a piece of lexan to fit around the head unit.. now it looks much better, IMO.
you can get lexan or plexiglass from most hardware stores or sign shops for pretty cheap.. use 1/4" for that, if you shoose to do it. (many times, sign shops will just give you something that size since they'll just pull it out of their scrap pile anyway.
)
I actually used a piece of clear lexan on mine.. when I got done shaping it to exactly what I wanted, I peeled the protective backing off the back side and sprayed it with flat black spray paint, including the edges..
when it dries, peel the plastic off the front side and look at your pretty work.
