4 questions - please help

not a noob, just askin' for a little insight.

1. are kyb gr-2's better than tokico blue's? and would a gr-2 handle the drop of intrax springs? a lot of my maxima buddies here in toronto are having troubles with their tokico blues on the modest eibach drop and i don't want to have their problems.

2. who has been able to clear the green out of there climate control buttons? i took all the **** apart and it really doesn't look like it could be done cleanly. my intent is to paint or use a blue marker to coat the inside of the button so that they'll light up blue.

3. have any of you replaced your auto shifter with a non-o/d aftermarket shifter and relocated the o/d button without any problems.
i'd like to try this but i'm curious to know if it's been attempted and caused any problems.

4. how much work is it to completely disable and remove the factory alarm? it's screwin' up on me and i'd like to replace it with an aftermarket alarm & remote keylss entry. will that also disable the keypads on the doors? -> i don't want to lose them...they're so handy!

ummmm i think that is all for now. there's another question i had to ask but i forgot

thanx in advance for any help or insight.

Tokico's are better, IMO, but what do I know - I'm probably gonna get KYB's shortly
I heard even if you clear the green out, you'll still get a blue/green tint if you color over the overlay..
I read a post a year or so ago about someone who did this, and relocated the button to the little cubby hole by the ebrake
what's screwing up on your factory alarm that you'd want to replace it?
KYBs are merely replacement shocks. Tokicos are for performance types. Both are sub-par to Koni

1. KYB are good for price, Toks are better but Koni is the best and probably the only one that will handle the drop for an extended time.

2. Yes I have done this and it will work if you do it right. scratch off the green off the back and use a few even coats (so it doesnt streak) of a blue sharpie that has a flat or chissle tip instead of the point. It looks good but is pretty dark compared to the green.

3. I havent done this but have read where some have and a button is a button so it should work fine as long as you do the wires right.

4. Dont know but check Craigs site for that kind of stuff.

when i open the trunk with the key it sets the alarm off. the trunk release button or keypad turnk relase don't set off the alarm though. i asked about this about a month ago and someone suggested that i reground the alarm sensor at the trunk lock. i tired that but it didn't work.

I think i'll leave the climate control alone. since i've taken it apart some of the buttons have become really stiff. and i have a digi climate control unit and they aren't cheap to replace if it gets f'd up.

I'm sure it won't be hard to re-locate the o/d button. but i'm curious to know if anyone has done this and had any problems. i guess i'll bite the bullet and just go ahead and do it.

Autozone does ECU checks and the like for free. At least at the locations that have the testers.

after you've run your car for a bit, and the abs light is on, open the trunk and there should be a small silver box (abs computer) mounted to the top behind the right speaker. count how many times it flashes and post that number here. someone can look it up in a manual for you.

i just replaced my driver's front and everything works now, only after two years of that stinking, annoying yellow abs light!

i believe there should be a pause between each set of flashes. for instance, it flashes five times (pauses for like 2 seconds) then flashes five times, etc. good luck.

Don't know bout the other questions but...

...Jeff from "MAXIMUM Tuning" told me the other day that Tokico's are straight garbage for sure and to go with the KYB's, he said they are really good...I would say that is your best advice...

..and also do not get any other springs but Eibach unless you want a better shot at cracking the tranny case on your auto..?!?

-GoSt AkA.. Mental institute..??

UPDATE:

...the comment on the tokico's being garbage was only directed to the BLUE ones's...
