Does anyone know what the HP rating on a stock VE (160hp) engine is at the wheels?

i figure bout 15%-20% power loss through the drivetrain, so...128-136?

the only VE motor that have is I beilive a VE30DE DOHC V-6 24 Valve 190 horsepower motor only offered in the 92-94 SE models, with a 0-60 rating at 6.7 seconds* and top speed of 138*.............* = Manual trans models (5 speed) as far as the 89-94 GXE, and 89-91 SE they came with the VG motor rathed with 160HP.

its supposedly anywhere from 105-115 at the wheels depending on condition and all that stuff. a kid from my school got his stock vg dynoed at 106 hp at the wheels. but i would say it should be around 125-130.

yea i woudl have to say that road and track was a little too generous when saying an 93se 5 speed is doing 0-60 in 6.7 seconds, thats liek waht a 2000 se 5 speed does. those numbers are very decieving i woudl say more in teh high 7's low 8's but not 6.7 anyone else agree? i mean come on stock......

no that 6.7 stock is pretty accurate, although most drivers would probably get low 7's. you must remember that those numbers are the ve 5spd. a ve auto would probably get mid-high 7's and low 8's.

I've also heard........

that Car and Driver does torque braking and low to mid range netrual drops.........I think that would make a significant difference in launches they use to get their 1/4 mile times too. damn car abusers!!!!

no we're talking about the 5spd. you dont torque brake or neutral drop a 5spd. they may have done that on an auto, but i doubt it cuz if they had done that the numbers on the auto would be better.

Hmmm

I always thought that the reason the 92+SE are so fast is because of the viscous limited-slip up front. It has the means necessary to get all the available power to the pavement.

Youve got to remember that those are PROFESSIONAL drivers as well. im not saying you guys cant shift, im just saying theyre damn good and can squeeze a few more tenths of an ET than an average driver could.

ive also heard that they strip em down and take the belts off and stuff to make a good looking time.

Anyone have any stock VG/5spd quarter mile times?
also - what are the best shift points on that motor/tranny?

Did the kid at your school have an auto or stick? more power is robbed with an auto.
