Are all 3rd Gen Struts interchangeable?
I was wondering if all the factory struts on 3rd generation maxima’s are interchangeable? (I’m assuming the electronic adjustable struts are not interchangeable, but what about the rest of the struts on 3rd gens?) Does the engine (VE30DE or VG30E) matter? What about the transmission (5spd or auto)? And does the brake setup matter (rear disc VS rear drums / ABS or Non-ABS)?
I want to install Koni struts on my 94 SE. But I was thinking of buying a used set of factory struts so I could do the necessary modification (cutting/drilling and installing the Koni on the factory strut) on them ahead of time, so when I went to change out my struts with the Koni’s it would be a lot quicker. (I found a set of factory used struts off a 89 maxima for a cheap price, but I want to make sure they would work on my 94 SE!)
Thanks!!

the rears are a drop-in replacement on the inserts anyway. might as well just pull and swap the rears while you're doing the job. the fronts I would recommend buying a second set and chopping them up like you mentioned.
BTW, power metalworking tools are your friend.
