Wussup everybody, I just ran my car for the first time and it did way better than I expected 1st run- 17.1 and the second run was a 16.6, but on the second run I did something I never did before and that was holding the brake and taching up to about 1500rpm and then I released the brake and punched the gas but i wanted to know if that would hurt the car any? My friend told me to shift my car from 1 to 2 then into the drive gear but I laughed in his face when he told me to do that craziness(I have an automatic)I just want to know what the best way to take off is with out hurting the car, and it was such a rush!!!!!!
on my first run I jumped out in front of a Firebird but he eventually caught up and passed me (great reaction time) but at the end I was about 1/4 carlength behind him and on my second run a mustang ate me alive can you say 16.6/81.29mph vs. 14.4/101.32 damn! Anyway I would welcome any and all input thanx.

Since you're in PSL area

Which track did you go to? I dont know about others but that method of launching seems fine with me, considering you're not at the track every other day. But for every day driving I probably wouldn't do that, builds up a-lot of heat in that process.

yes and no

I mean, as long as you don't rev it too high, or for to long that is ok to do. One you start getting into high rev's it's not good. I would try to rev it up and launch as quick as you can without sitting there for too long.

Yes you can hurt your car.....

its not always about how high you rev it, but its about how long you hold it! the best way is to do the quick torque brak method where as soon as you're about to launch the you hold the brake and as soon as you push the gas and the car starts to pull and the RPMs get to 1.5K let off the brake, its inda hard since its a very close split second reaction! but I don't suggest you hold a torque brake while waiting for the green, cause it will hurt your transmission.
