The head lights were on, but the control panel illumination light
is not.
Any clue where to look after the problem?

Try checking the Timing Control Unit (TCU).

 

if ur corners, tails, and dash don't light up then that would be the TCU which reygarcia already said it. the TCU is under the dash its a little white box behind the auto theft box which is silver. once u have located that just open the little white box and slide out the plate chip thing and u'll notice where it burned out which will be noticed on the back of it. then just go to a junkyard and just get one. if the TCU is not burned out then check ur fuses. thats all i know but there might be more to it so i don't know but just check that first.
