1990 Strut problems
My sons 1990 Maxima SE has the electronic suspension and I am pretty sure he needs struts in the front and I have a leaker on the left rear side. The car has 170,000 miles and I don't want to put too much money in the car. He loves the car and it still runs great. Can I put standard struts on it? I will probably do the work myself unless you guys scare me away from the idea! He will be driving the car back and forth to college so it needs to be roadworthy! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

fronts are normal std strut install..the rears you need to pull the stock guts out and put in an insert...not too bad either.

it gives step by steps on a lot of things.
www.tirerack.com is a good reliable place for kyb gr-2 strut assemblies for the front and inserts for the rears. They are pretty good replacements for stock. you might as well get eibach pro-kit springs for the car while youre there and an eibach camber kit. Strut mounts are also good for those many miles. That way you have them done and never have to worry about them till you hit 300+ k miles. It's fun replacing them. Make sure to have your son work with you. It increases the mental value of the car for him. goodluck.
