Every third gen Maxima I've seen has the word "Maxima" on the rear panel. The GXE has a red plastic panel and the SE is Black. My 1990's SE rear black panel does not show the word "Maxima". The only reference to the kind of car I have is the work Nissan on the front grille. I bought this Maxima earlier this month and don't know its history. Is the rear panel on my car some sort of aftermarket panel or what?

 

no, the word "maxima" on the back panel is just a sticker, the previous owner must have peeled it off, that's what i did, and that's what a lot of other maxima owners do too.
