Speedometer woes-- speed sensor?
Speedometer woes-- speed sensor?
Hello fellow Maxima owners!
I have a '94 with 228K on the original engine and running strong. I liked it so much I found a '93, original owner w/52K miles in awesome shape so I bought it for the wife.
Everything has been fine, except recently the speedometer started intermittently failing-- and seems to have finally quit all together. Mileage is also not being recorded.
I noticed when it first started to happen, if we had the cruise control on and the speedometer would quit the cruise control would also disengage.
Some poking around on the web it looks like there is a "speed sensor" that could be bad. Does this sound right to you Maxima gurus out there? If so, is it something I could buy off the web somewhere and install it myself? (I am not a mechanic, but depending on the skill required for this change I can follow directions with the best of them).
Any help would be very much appreciated!

PS - My 94 Maxima's doors have gotten so damn stiff you really have to yank 'em to close them. Grease, WD40, you name it-- doesn't seem to help. Anyone else experience that?
