dont cut your factory wires!

go to a local audio shop and buy a harness or get one from wal mart. You will also need the adapter for the antenna. It plugs into the 2 prong one and has a standard out.

the harness you buy will have the directions on it to connect a new radio up.

Listen to awsm66. Even if you dont care about cutting factory wires, It is soooo much easier to have the harness. you can wire it up while sitting on your couch if you wanted to (or on the way home from the store ) unhook one clip and get instant mobility vs. being stuck right next to the dash cutting wires and doing a ****ty job at it.

well here is my advice then. Go back out to the car and get the end with the plug that you cut off. get some solder and heat shrink, match the wires up to the ones that are left in the car, slip the heat shrink on and move it far away from the end, put the wires together, solder them together, move heat shrink on bare wire and heat with a hairdryer to shrink.

Now the wire is in factory shape and go and buy a harness. The harness is labeled to where the wires need to go on your radio. connect them up using the solder method above. Then go plug it up to the factory plug.

if you cant solder then buy white caps or butt connectors and use those instead of soldering.

if you dont have the plug that you cut off then the correct thing to do would be go to a junk yard and cut one off of another max and hope that the wire code is the same (should be).

If you still just want to hook up your radio and not do it the right way then do a search on here using my name and harness (or something) since I posted a while back the wiring of the radio. It may have the color code for the wire too...not sure on that though.

good luck,

I installed an aftermarket stereo on my dads 87 maxima and could not find an adapter harness kit anywhere. So I had to pull out the wires from the harness, got myself a wiring diagram from the haynes manual and i connected everything together by wrapping the wires and then putting some electrical tape to hold it together.
You just have to be careful to separate your wires properly like the live wire that has voltage, the grounds, and the wires leading to the speakers. This job is intimidating the first time, but its well worth being careful and taking the time so you dont short anything.
