Car Starting Question
Car Starting Question
Hi, my car has had a weird starting problem. For the past year or so, the problem has gotten worse as time goes by. The problem isn't that my car doesn't start or has a hard time starting, because when it starts it has a nice clean start. See, I always end up having to shift my car out of park and then put it back into park for my car to actually start. When I turn the key it barely makes a noise, so I do the same thing everytime and it has become almost a habit. I just pop it out of park and put it back into park and everytime I do that it starts right up very nicely. Does anyone have any ideas why it might be doing that. My car has the VG motor. Also, another thing that I noticed that doesn't have anything to do with starting, is that my car shifts in and out of 3rd and 4th gear a lot. For most of the time it seems like it runs in 3rd and when it does go into 4th you really have to keep on it, or it'll shift down into 3rd. It's just strage that it shift so often and doesn't spend too much time in 4th. I'm not sure if that's normal. Any help would be appreciated on both of these matters. Thanks!!!
its the shifter bushings worn out probably...been talked about a lot lately so search to find out what to do about replacement. The trans will not start out of P or N and there is a switch that keeps it from doing it. I think that switch is on the trans so if the bushing is worn out the car will not go completely into park to activate the switch.
