300zx Parts

I am looking for some 300zx parts that might fit on a SE 93 max. I think I heard once that the throttle body will fit and maybe the injectors. Will the intake manifold fit or is there some kind of clearance problem? Also, will the twin turbo manifold fit? I Have a 85 300zx turbo motor that is getting e-bayed as I poste, will the manifold off it work? Thanks!

Are the 300zx and the Maxima motor the same except for the intake or is it a different block and different heads?

anything you want from an 80's era z car to fit the 3rd gen will have to be "persuaded" to fit. the VG block itself will fit. but people seek this out for the legendary turbo swap project because they want the low-comp pistons. and the turbo exhaust manifolds. if the thread is still located here, go to http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....5&pagenumber=1

but like they said, nothing out of the box is plug-and-play.

The only difference in as the engine is concerned is the oil pump, oil filter location, and pistons. The engine block is the exact same and the turbo manifold can be used on a maxima. If you don't believe me try my website. www.angelfire.com/super2/jetranger. IT has been done! The only problem with the 85 engine is the rods have pressed pistons and your 93 are floating. You could use your rods which should have a W marked on them. These are stronger rods than the 85 and better because they have a floating wrist pin. I am not sure about the 93 but an 92 with SOHC is the exact same engine heads and all. The dual overhead cam is different. And another thing the z32(300zx from 1990-1996) fuel injectors can be used on the 92 as they are drop in injectors. Any questions email me and i'll answer. MIKE

Glad you cleared THAT up, Mike, cuz I was gonna say the same thing since I've got z32 injectors in MY car. So to those that say that NOTHING out of the Z will fit...

sure, they'll FIT, but do they WORK?
It's one thing to slap some s*** on the car, but it's another thing to actually get benefits out of them.
you can't do squat on injectors unless you've got an ECU programmed for it. otherwise, the car runs extremely rich ALL the time.

If you don't have boost, 300z injectors will do more harm than good. Alot more harm actually.

you don't need a repoed ecu to run bigger injectors spanky.

i did this years ago. or did ya forget about me already

im sad.

i did it in my talon too, and got better gas mileage.

I didn't forget, fruitcake.. it ran reaaaaly rich too at lower RPM, if I remember correctly. you also had a lot more done to the engine than some of these goobers do.

The injectors would benefit from a programmed ecu but would still run in the car. However you are also correct in saying the car would run rich. The benefit would be using the turbo and putting that extra fuel to use. I was under the impression that these injectors would be utlized on a turbo maxima not a N/A. The "harm" as you say would be fouled plugs, fouled o2 sensor, and plugged cataylic converter.

My only "detriment" in the 4+ months of having them in have been the plugged cat (which I promptly got rid of, in lieu of a straight pipe). And I can't necessarily say my car is running all THAT rich. But that might be because I ride around like a bat outta you-know-where all the time! So, yeah... while it's not recommended to use them for your everyday application, it would be to say they CAN'T be used at all...

(and Bryan... where have you been lately??? - what's this, "old home week"?)
