I think my problem is my IACV, what do you guys think

Well my car has been having a problem when I come to a complete stop at times it just shuts off and sometimes under full throttle the car seems not to respond at all and I have to release the gas pedal until it catches again. So far I swapped the MAF with a friend and that didn't solve the problem. So yesteray I went to my friends shop and since I have N34JZ's motor at the shop I decided to swap some stuff from his motor to my motor to see if we could find the problem. So I go to Jason's old motor and remove the IACV and then clean it. Then I go to my car and start taking apart the stillen intake and frankencar pipe. Once that was removed we notice that the screw on my IACV is almost all the way out, so were like this probably happened from all the shaking of the ACT. So we decided to leave the IACV on my car and put the screw back in all the way, then we adjusted the idle until it was at a perfect 750. So I drive back home and no problems at all and it feels great. Then at night go for a drive and start noticing this problem.....when I am standing still and give my car gas the idle goes below 500rpm and then it goes back up which is something it never did and it also hesitates still. So tomorrow I am going to replace the IACV and hopefully that will fix my car but I'm just trying to see to get any suggestions from what you guys think it might be other than the IACV.

Thanks,
D

Sorry, I don't mean to highjack your thread but can you tell me or post a pic of where the IACV is? I can't find it for anything. I checked another post and still came up with nothing.

Gjohnson: its right under the throttle body. You will see a between all those hoses a screw type of thing.

I couldn't believe that the screw came out that much either. Very weird and thanks for the responses guys.

sometimes troubleshooting/trial and error is the only way to find/fix problems. Started with the obvious such as the MAF which didnt fix it so move on. Lets see how it performs tomorrow

i heard cost of replacing the iacv is very very expensive....but cleaning is a good idea...but that doesnt seem 2 b the prob here...i had a malfunctioning iacv for a long time, and once i got it working again the rpms at idle sumtimes dip around 500 for a slip sec...im guessing the car got used to the iacv not being there and adjusted so timing, idle speed, and tps need 2 b reset

its not as bad as you might think. D told me the other day he got a price of around $120 I believe. Not sure if that is throught courtesy with the discount or not.

Well I went to the dealer yesterday and I spoke to them over the phone prior and they gave me that price. They also told me it would be like a week until they got it so I said forget it, I'll just order through courtesy but before I do that I'll be installing the IACV from the other motor at the shop and see how that goes, if it fixes the problem then I'll order a new one.
