fuel gauge needle dropped

Help guys! My fuel gauge needle has dropped further down than "E" when my tank is on half. The gas light didnt come on and the car is running. Did this happen to any of you and is there a way to fix this?

mine has never dropped down below when im on half tank but i know for a fact that my gas light dosent work reason being is that i drove all the way to empty and waiting for my light to come on and it never did and yes i did run out of gas. But im going to ask around and get back to you on this question cause i think my friend with a 97 blazer has the same problem but he just deals with it and really dosnet care about it but i will ask.

easiest way to fix, buy a replacement gauge set.
cheapest way to try and fix, check all of your connections and work your way up to checking that gauge for bad solder points, our cars are getting older, sadly.
