High beams--Help anybody

I have a 94 gxe and I've been having trouble with the high beams not wanting to work. Sometimes they work and sometimes, lately, when you flip it to high beam, the lights(on high beam) just go completely out!!They work fine on low beam. Is there some kind of high beam switch that can cause this? I've just recently replaced the bulbs. I tried a search but since their changing the set up on the search section, I thought I'd ask one of you. Thanks for any imput.

Often, it's the actual switch on the steering column that gets dirty. clean or replace it, then see what happens.
