Neither Maxima's have had rust and I'm in Washington.

Hell my 68 Mustang isnt even rusted, except for some surface rust near the battery tray which I need to wirewheel off and seal until I can paint the whole thing..... if I dont sell it first.

got just alittle bit right up on top of the windshield and a inch of it on my hood where it got dinged. Not much considering my car has been owned by people in NY, Co, and now IA.

i have huge rust holes in the rocker panels, spots on the piece below the door spots everywhere. The previous owner did a lot of filling in the rust with body filler. My friend owns a body shop and showed me a primer that goes on as a spray epoxy. I've fixed a couple of spots, but some of it is beyond repair.

Zero rust on mine.

MrGone and I both live in the Northwest (He, in Washington and I in Oregon) where they don't allow salt on the roads. Unless you live on the coast, Northwesterners don't get as much rust as people think. It rains, but salt corrodes a lot faster than rain does.

Guess I'll join the rust-pack.

Bottom of the driver side rear door, just a lil spot. Guess I better get to working on it quickly.

Car was out of NY...

you all might want to remove your rear seat, because the welds there tend to rust, at least they have on both of the 3rd gens i have had. On my newest 92, i used some naval jelly that you get at home depot or some hardware store, then i used a rustoleum primer and rustoleum finish coat.

The other place i have rust is in the trunk lip area on the body, not the lid. i think i will treat them the same way as the rear seat welds. I was concerned about the front fenders, because those went pretty quickly on my 1989 with all of the salt up here in Massachusetts winters. but these had collected a lot of road debris that wouldnt let the water drain, i think that is where the rust begins in the debris there. So if you are ambitious and want to preserve the front fenders you might want to remove them, clean them and reinstall, i'd say about 3 hour job.

Thats all i have found to date...

I have a 93 SE, it has one spot on top of the drivers side rear wheel well, a little bit of surface rust on the bottom of the drivers side rear door, and a little on both rocker panels on the rear, planning on getting it all taken care of when I get my new OEM factory spoiler put on.

We're talking about body rust right?

I have no rust at all on my 94 GXE and I'm on Long Island New York.

bottom of driver's side if you follow the B-pillar all the way down to the bottom. near rocker. i hate it. will take care of it when i have dings and rusted out spoiler fixed (where spoiler bolts onto trunk - those brackets are rusted).

Bonz, whats the best thing to do about the rusted spoiler bolts? Mine'd done the exact same thing...starting to rise up on the drivers side.

I have rust on the passenger's side if you follow the C-pillar to the rocker, the welds by the rear seat, and surface rust in most of the chips on my hood, and thats a hella lot of chips... also the bolt brackets on the ends of the spoiler have rusted out... Vwink182, I just cleaned the ends of the spoiler out and double-stick taped[the super buff kind that they use on bodykits]them down to the trunk lid, it looks alright and it has worked well so far... I'm going to get a new spoiler when I get it repainted and put a body kit on...

i used the body kit stout tape that the other guys speak of. and that was about 6 years ago. and the tape is just about now giving up the ghost, as it were. so now i must really face the rust problem. besides, just today, a piece of someone's boat trailer came off on the highway and hit my f%&*cking passenger's side rear door and immediate area just rear of that on the body, denting it! motherf*&cker.

so now, with the older body rust, the old spoiler rust, a few dings here and there added up, and now the new small but annoying and ugly dent, i have a perfect excuse to just do it all now. one wallop. finished. de-blemish the bish.

the rust on my spoiler is so bad that I am going to get a GXE trunk today to replace it...

The spoiler vibrates loudly in speeds over 50mph.

lol

seems like the most common thing is the wing rust. and rust in or near rockers.

Rust!!! YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT RUST!!! Let me tell you. I got an 89 and about six months about I started to read about rust off this here forum. "Nah that's not me", I said until I started to notice a wet and dirty trunk with lots of street junk. I remember reading about rust related filler fuel tube leaks and rusted rear safety seat belts brakets. I removed the rear seats and I was shocked to see the entire rear wheels archs totally rusted! Rusted to the point of being able to poke wholes through with your fingers! The seatbelt brackets were off the chassy... In short my car had trunk and rear wheel housing CANCER! I couldn't afford (and still can't afford) a newer car because I just bought a house and had a baby girl, so I had the entire rear of the car weldded at my local body shop and sprayed with a rubberizer for about $600. Now my car rides quieter than ever! I don't expect to keep the car longer than 3 years, but now I'm more comfortable with it.

Can't some of the rusting be fixed by the dealership for free under the recall about the seatbelt brackets and the wheel wells?

Yes and no. they will honor the recall with no problem but at the end they will offer to total the car and offer you $500 towards a newer model or just plain keep your car in their shop for an extremely long time... Is just not worth it to them either way to fix such an old car. I read of one guy here who got Nissan to fix his car. I tried and the guys at the dealer offered $500.

I took the whole thing off, it was only held in place by the 4 bolts in the center... but it can be done by just lifting the endsup, just be careful not to bend the spoiler...

I'm gonna try to get them to honor the recall for my car because I'm studying abroad in Italy for four months so while my car is sitting here without me, i'm gonna have my dad get her recalls fixed, and a few other repairs done so she's all ready and waiting for me when i get back.
