how many of us have rust spots
Neither Maxima's have had rust and I'm in Washington.
Hell my 68 Mustang isnt even rusted, except for some surface rust near the battery tray which I need to wirewheel off and seal until I can paint the whole thing..... if I dont sell it first.

i have huge rust holes in the rocker panels, spots on the piece below the door spots everywhere. The previous owner did a lot of filling in the rust with body filler. My friend owns a body shop and showed me a primer that goes on as a spray epoxy. I've fixed a couple of spots, but some of it is beyond repair.

Zero rust on mine.
MrGone and I both live in the Northwest (He, in Washington and I in Oregon) where they don't allow salt on the roads. Unless you live on the coast, Northwesterners don't get as much rust as people think. It rains, but salt corrodes a lot faster than rain does.

you all might want to remove your rear seat, because the welds there tend to rust, at least they have on both of the 3rd gens i have had. On my newest 92, i used some naval jelly that you get at home depot or some hardware store, then i used a rustoleum primer and rustoleum finish coat.
The other place i have rust is in the trunk lip area on the body, not the lid. i think i will treat them the same way as the rear seat welds. I was concerned about the front fenders, because those went pretty quickly on my 1989 with all of the salt up here in Massachusetts winters. but these had collected a lot of road debris that wouldnt let the water drain, i think that is where the rust begins in the debris there. So if you are ambitious and want to preserve the front fenders you might want to remove them, clean them and reinstall, i'd say about 3 hour job.
Thats all i have found to date...

bottom of driver's side if you follow the B-pillar all the way down to the bottom. near rocker. i hate it. will take care of it when i have dings and rusted out spoiler fixed (where spoiler bolts onto trunk - those brackets are rusted).
I have rust on the passenger's side if you follow the C-pillar to the rocker, the welds by the rear seat, and surface rust in most of the chips on my hood, and thats a hella lot of chips... also the bolt brackets on the ends of the spoiler have rusted out... Vwink182, I just cleaned the ends of the spoiler out and double-stick taped[the super buff kind that they use on bodykits]them down to the trunk lid, it looks alright and it has worked well so far... I'm going to get a new spoiler when I get it repainted and put a body kit on...

Bonz, whats the best thing to do about the rusted spoiler bolts? Mine'd done the exact same thing...starting to rise up on the drivers side.

so now, with the older body rust, the old spoiler rust, a few dings here and there added up, and now the new small but annoying and ugly dent, i have a perfect excuse to just do it all now. one wallop. finished. de-blemish the bish.

did you take the whole spoiler off when you cleaned it out or did you just kind lift up the end coming off and clean underneath? thx

Yes and no. they will honor the recall with no problem but at the end they will offer to total the car and offer you $500 towards a newer model or just plain keep your car in their shop for an extremely long time... Is just not worth it to them either way to fix such an old car. I read of one guy here who got Nissan to fix his car. I tried and the guys at the dealer offered $500.
