slave cylinder

I bought that new ve 5 speed, ran into a little trouble , once in awhile when i go to shift it just dosent want to go into gear mainly first. then somethimes grind on 3rd/4th =\ untill i take my foot off the clutch and reapply. I was thinking it was the slave cylinder. so i looked at it pulled the boot back and saw some oil . do u think this is the main cause for my problem ? anything else to look for? slave cylinders are only 40 bones plus the time to bleed the system...

Re: slave cylinder

I just replaced mine yesterday. My clutch pedal would slowly come back and after awhile it stuck to the floor and wouldent go into gear. When I pulled the boot back fluid came out of it, i suppose the seals around the piston went bad. Easy to replace, my local A&A auto parts store had it for $29. Get a bottle of Dot3 brake fluid also.
